Brazilian superstar removes all footprint of Real Madrid on Instagram as renewal doubts grow

Real Madrid have one major issue to sort out this summer, with

Los Blancos

still not certain whether Vinicius Junior will renew his contract at the club.

His future at the Spanish club has been under scrutiny for a while now, with Florentino Perez

making it a priority

to extend his contract before moving for a player like Michael Olise.

The Brazilian has created fresh uncertainty around his

Real Madrid

future after removing visible references to the club from his social media profiles.

, Vinicius has changed his profile image to black, removed any mention of

from his biography and no longer has club-related posts pinned on Instagram.

Recent references to Madrid are also very limited, with only farewell posts to David Alaba and Dani Carvajal visible on his handle.

This is not the first time Vinicius has made such changes.

The Brazilian previously removed

references from his profile in December after a match against Sevilla, during a period in which he had also been whistled by sections of the Santiago Bernabeu crowd.

There is not much to read into it, though. Players regularly alter their social media accounts for personal or commercial reasons, and Vinicius has not publicly linked the decision to his contract situation.

Vinicius is currently due to become a free agent in 2027.

That gives Madrid a major decision to make if no agreement is reached, because allowing one of the most valuable players in the squad to enter the final year of his deal would create financial and sporting risk.

More importantly, if the Brazilian does not want to continue at the Spanish club, Madrid will have to sign a

Galactico

replacement like Olise, and that might not be possible with Vinicius’ wages still on the books.

Although Perez’s priority seems to be keeping Vinicius at the club, the president’s interest alone would not be sufficient to take this deal forward.

The disappearance of Instagram posts in isolation may not indicate a decision on the player’s future, but when looked at in the context of these renewal talks, it does not paint a good picture.

Madridistas will hope that they receive an official communication on the situation, either from the club or the player, in the coming days.

It remains to be seen whether Vinicius puts pen to paper on a new contract at Madrid or whether the club look to find a solution to let him leave this summer.
