Emiliano Martinez ‘offered’ to Chelsea as club consider signing goalkeeper

According to The Athletic, Emiliano Martinez has been offered to Chelsea, and the club are understood to be considering a move.

That follows two errors by Robert Sanchez on Monday in the Blues’ 3-2 Premier League win over Fulham.

The report said Martinez was close to joining Juventus earlier in the summer window, but the move fell through.

The 33-year-old is understood to be seeking to leave Aston Villa, with Zion Suzuki having just joined the club. Paris had targeted the Japan international before ending their pursuit.

Last season Martinez won the Europa League and finished fourth in the Premier League with Villa. He then lost the World Cup final with Argentina to Spain last July, 1-0 after extra time.
