Everton owners decide to KEEP Harrison Armstrong... a day after travelling fans threatened to 'riot' if 19-year-old was sold

Everton's owners have scrapped Harrison Armstrong's proposed move to Nottingham Forest following a backlash from supporters.

The Toffees had accepted an offer of £35m plus £5m in add ons from Forest, with the deal also including a sell on clause.

Armstrong had also been given permission to travel to Nottingham to complete the move.

Everton owners The Friedkin Group have now pulled the plug on the deal following fan reaction during their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.

Fans had chanted 'Don't sell Armstrong, I just don't think you understand... you're going to have a riot on your hands'.

'There’s been an offer,' Everton boss David Moyes said post-match.

'Apart from that I don’t think there’s much else I can say, it’s a club decision. We don’t want to lose anybody and we still need to add players to what we’ve got. I’ve been saying it for a while.'

Asked about the fans' chanting, he replied: 'I think you always have to consider supporters. There’s also times at clubs when people who are really powerful make difficult decisions. Not all decisions are popular. Sometimes they have to do it for different reasons.'

Armstrong, 19, has played 21 senior games for Everton since breaking into the first team.

Everton looking to add a right back before the transfer window closes, with Fulham’s Kenny Tete is one of two options they are considering.
