Ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi misses Villarreal's Champions League win after he and his family are held at gunpoint in armed robbery at home
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi and his family have been the target of an armed robbery at their home in Puzol, Spain.
The now Villarreal shot-stopper and his wife, Diana Vigh, are reported to have been held at gunpoint just hours before the 36-year-old was due to play his club's Champions League clash with Napoli.
However, the Hungarian was ruled out of the fixture after a group of four masked intruders, armed with pistols, broke into their luxury home, which is located on an estate north of Valencia.
Gulacsi is believed to have been held at gunpoint and ordered by the group to hand over valuables from a locked safe during the terrifying ordeal, while one of his two children is believed to have been inside the property.
No one is believed to have been injured during the incident, which went on for around an hour on Tuesday morning, while it is not yet clear what possessions were taken from the property, or their worth.
The intruders are alleged to have fled the scene in two luxury cars and a police investigation into the incident is now underway. No arrests have been made at the present time.

Gulacsi is reported to have been shaken by the incident, which led to him pulling out of Villarreal's squad to face Napoli later that day. The Spanish side went on to win 3-1 at Estadio de la Ceramica (formerly known as El Madrigal).
Daily Mail Sport have appraoched Villarreal for comment.
The Hungarian joined the club back in August following an 11-year stint as the No1 goalkeeper at German side RB Leipzig, where he made over 350 appearances.
Gulacsi began his senior career on Merseyside with Liverpool, having left his boyhood club MTK Budapest initially on loan in 2007, before making the move permanent.
However, he never made a competitive appearance between the sticks in red during his six years at Anfield, spending four of those on loan at the likes of Hereford United, Tranmere Rovers and Hull City.
The goalkeeper has made 58 appearances for his country, Hungary, before retiring from international duty in the summer of 2025.
