Hull continue dream Premier League return with Coventry win

Hull City continued their remarkable start to life in the Premier League with a dramatic 1-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City.

The Tigers arrived in the West Midlands having already stunned Manchester United, while Coventry were searching for their first points after losing to Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Taiwo Awoniyi provided Coventry’s main attacking threat in the first half, but the striker was unable to find a way past Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, who produced several important saves to keep the visitors level.

The visitors grew into the contest after the break and began to look increasingly dangerous. Nobel Mendy tested Carl Rushworth with a powerful effort from distance, while substitute Liam Millar came close after finding space behind the Coventry defence.

The Canada international would not make the same mistake twice, however. With eight minutes remaining, Hull launched a swift counter-attack following a Coventry corner, and Mohamed Belloumi released Millar into space. The winger kept his composure before calmly slotting beyond Carl Rushworth to seal another impressive victory.

Hull now have six points from their opening two matches, while Coventry remain without a point and are still searching for their first Premier League goal of the campaign.
