Luke Shaw is in contention to return from injury for Manchester United ’s Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday.

Shaw has missed United’s last three matches due to a thigh injury with Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui filling in at left-back in the 31-year-old’s absence.

United have suffered back-to-back defeats after their 1-0 loss at home to Manchester City in the Premier League last Sunday was followed up by a 3-2 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Speaking ahead of United’s trip to Fulham this weekend, Michael Carrick revealed that Shaw and Carlos Baleba, who is yet to make his debut following his £70 million move from Brighton last month, could both be in his squad for the match at Craven Cottage.

‘There is a chance on both really,’ said Carrick.

‘Not totally 100 per cent yet.

‘It is really short term [with Luke], to be honest, but we’re just working towards the game. So we’ll see how he is.’

Matthijs de Ligt, Amad and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined.

Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo, Kobbie Mainoo and Mateus Cunha could all regain their place in United’s starting line-up against Fulham after starting on the bench for the defeat to Brighton.
