Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis sacks his 25th manager in 16 years

Evangelos Marinakis has made an early managerial change at Nottingham Forest’s sister club Olympiacos, with the Greek giants parting company with Jose Luis Mendilibar just three league games into the 2026/27 season. The 65-year-old had been in charge since February 2024.
Olympiacos have taken seven points from three league matches this term but failed to qualify for the Champions League. Reports in Greece claim former Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil is set to take over.
Mendilibar delivered European silverware by winning the UEFA Conference League in 2024, then oversaw a domestic treble of league, cup and Super Cup the following season.
Marinakis also owns Nottingham Forest and Portuguese side Rio Ave.
At the City Ground, four head coaches came and went last season, with Vitor Pereira guiding the Reds to Premier League safety after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche. Pereira was dismissed in the summer and replaced by Oliver Glasner, and it is hoped the Austrian can bring stability.
