Predicted XI: Alonso to keep faith with Colwill passing but Acheampong pressing hard for start

Chelsea’s team under Xabi Alonso is becoming increasingly settled, but there are still spots up for grabs in the selection.

Chelsea have their next Premier League game this afternoon, and it’s one that looked easy on paper.

Hull were strong favourites to go down, but as they prepare for their fourth Premier League game since promotion they are yet to concede a goal. This is not one to take lightly. Xabi Alonso was able to rest some players in midweek, and this is the team we think he will settle on.

Emi Martinez will return in goal, that’s for sure. But after that there are questions.

We suspect the Wesley Fofana – Maxence Lacroix – Levi Colwill back three continues simply because it’s the most experienced. But Josh Acheampong is pushing very hard for league starts now, and could well get the nod.

At wing Jorrel Hato and Pedro Neto seem the favoured pair – although we suspect Pep Chavarria will get a start on the left at some point in the league. Our central midfield should see Reece James and Romeo Lavia back in after a midweek rest.

Then we all know the front three – the Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers trio which is terrorising the league right now.
