Tottenham handed instant boost after Omar Marmoush transfer with Newcastle reality clear

Tottenham Hotspur have secured a season-long loan for Omar Marmoush with a £60m obligation to buy, and the Egyptian forward could be rolled out against Newcastle this weekend

Omar Marmoush is available to make his debut against Newcastle United this weekend, should Roberto De Zerbi opt to utilise the forward.

The Manchester City talent has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan, with the club carrying a £60million obligation to make the move permanent in 12 months' time.

That fee is split into a guaranteed £50m as well as an additional £10m in add-ons. And should the Egyptian make his debut with the Lilywhites on home turf against the Magpies on Saturday, Marmoush could prove to be a thorn of the Tyneside-based team once more.

The 27-year-old has scored a total of seven goals against Newcastle during his career thus far - making the Magpies the team that Marmoush has been historically most prolific against.

Whether a lack of training under De Zerbi, having only arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, will hamper the versatile forward's chances against the Magpies remains to be seen.

Marmoush arrives as the second player that Spurs have taken from City this summer, following a £75m deal for Savio earlier this week.

Announcing Marmoush's move, the club wrote: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Egypt international forward Omar Marmoush on a season-long loan.

"Omar joins the Club from Manchester City, and the deal includes an obligation to make the move permanent next summer."

Speaking after his arrival, the striker - who can also operate on the wing - said: "It feels amazing to be here. I'm so excited to get started with the team and I can't wait to meet the fans.

"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.

"I've spoken with the head coach, I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together."

De Zerbi, meanwhile, added: "Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club - ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference.

"He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.

"He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level."
