West Ham are considering an approach for Everton defender Michael Keane ahead of the transfer deadline.

According to the West Ham Way, the Hammers are weighing up a potential move for the centre-back in the closing stages of the summer market.

Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to bolster his backline, particularly with Jean-Clair Todibo’s future likely lying away from the London Stadium.

But time is running out to complete any remaining business, with the window set to close on Tuesday evening.

Keane did not feature for Everton in their opening game of the new Premier League campaign, with David Moyes’ side winning 2-0 against Crystal Palace.

The 33-year-old signed a new deal with the Merseyside outfit in April, which keeps him at the club until June 2027.

It’s believed that Keane has emerged as a potential transfer target for West Ham in the final days of the transfer market.

It’s understood that the veteran defender has been made available by Everton, with the player falling down the pecking order of Moyes’ first team.

The 33-year-old made 33 appearances in the Premier League last season, including starting on 29 occasions, as the Toffees finished 13th in the table.

But his time with the club could come to an end in the coming days, having joined Everton from Burnley in the 2017 summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Keane would be willing to drop down to the Championship at this stage of his career.

But speculation on Todibo’s future has led to the possibility of a centre-back joining the Hammers before the market closes next week.
