Tottenham have made surprise 'enquiries' about signing AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic before the end of the transfer window. The United States international has spent the last three years at I Rossoneri after joining the club in a £19million deal from Chelsea.

In that time, Pulisic has scored 42 goals and provided 27 assists in 134 appearances but he could leave Milan before the September 1 deadline after falling down the pecking order. New head coach Ruben Amorim, who was appointed in the summer, has left Pulisic as an unused substitute for their opening two Serie A matches against Torino and Venezia, and that has seen his future become uncertain.

But now, according to TEAMTalk, Tottenham have 'asked about' Pulisic as Roberto De Zerbi tries to strengthen his forward line. The American is one of five players being considered by Spurs, with Lyon's Malick Fofana, Eintracht Frankfurt's Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Lille's Matheus Fernandez-Pardo among the others.

Although Pulisic hasn't played a single minute for Milan this season, it's believed that I Rossoneri are not looking to sell him and he is still part of Amorim's long-term plans. This is even despite the incoming signing of Omari Hutchinson, who is poised to join the club on loan from Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

Pulisic would add an extra ounce of attacking threat to Tottenham's front line as they look to improve following a difficult start to the season. He is predominately a left-sided winger, but he can be used anywhere across front three and even through the middle as a lone centre forward.

But Pulisic isn't considered as Tottenham's first-choice target for that position. Cody Gakpo is preferred, though it appears the Dutchman is heading for Manchester City after a £70m agreement was reached with Liverpool.

Spurs have lost each of their opening two matches this season without scoring a goal and are desperate to bring more strength and depth to the attacking third, after Omar Marmoush and Savinho joined the club.
