Ferdi Kadioglu: Truth behind claims Man United are closing in on Brighton star as Turkish media clears the air

3

Last weekend, reports circulated that Manchester United were closing in on a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion left-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

It was suggested that United had agreed a £40 million deal with Brighton for the 27-year-old, who would reportedly follow Carlos Baleba out of the Amex and immediately head to Old Trafford.

Interestingly, Kadıoğlu’s absence from Brighton’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa further fuelled these transfer links.

Truth of Kadıoğlu to Man United talk

However, while some fans await a “here we go” or a David Ornstein bomba confirming the left-back’s move to Manchester United, Turkish Football have explained why that will not be the case.

They report: “There is currently no agreement in place between the Red Devils and the Premier League side, with rumors of an imminent move being premature.”

They then add, “Brighton are under no financial pressure to sell and intend to rebuff initial approaches.”

Kadıoğlu himself is reportedly not pushing for a move away either, as he remains fully focused on the Seagulls project.

Capable of playing across either full-back position as well as in midfield, and now well adapted to English football, Kadıoğlu could have been a brilliant addition for Michael Carrick‘s project.

Unfortunately, though, he will not be following Baleba to Old Trafford just yet.

Alejandro Balde one to watch

Even so, United are still expected to sign a left-back before transfer deadline day.

There remains a need to find a capable alternative to Luke Shaw, as the Englishman cannot be expected to play every game as he did last season; doing so would ultimately run him into the ground.

Alejandro Balde is one option being considered, with the 20-time English champions reportedly looking to sign the Spaniard on a season-long loan.

With no English media backing the Kadıoğlu to Man United claims, we believe this report is right in dismissing them as untrue.
