INEOS’ transfer plans after Carlos Baleba will send shockwaves across the Man United fanbase

Manchester United’s transfer business so far has seen them spend £155 million on signing three midfielders and a free agent in Karl Darlow.

Michael Carrick’s planned midfield revamp is complete following Carlos Baleba‘s arrival, but the head coach needs more help, especially at the back.

Luke Shaw is in no position to play the entire season without a recognised backup in place, especially amid reports of Harry Amass being close to leaving.

However, the Cameroonian midfielder might be United’s final incoming this window, as per both The Daily Mail and talkSPORT.

United’s transfer plans revealed

“United are prioritising a new left-back amid interest in Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and 19-year-old Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander.

“But insiders are far from certain there will be any more incomings to add to £155million midfield trio Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba, and free-agent goalkeeper Karl Darlow,” The Mail wrote.

Balde appears to be a difficult deal to crack owing to the Catalan giants’ excessive valuation. Lewis Hall remains the dream target, even though a sale is more likely next summer.

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook went one step further by revealing that INEOS would have let Carrick down if they fail to strengthen the backline before deadline day.

“There’s no guarantee they’ll bring in a left-back, or even anybody else, after Baleba in the final week of the window. And I think if that is the case, then it hasn’t been a very good transfer window.”

There can be little argument against that statement, especially amid Luke Shaw’s poor injury record.

The 20-time English league champions will also need a backup striker if Joshua Zirkzee leaves. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will be required to double up as wingers, and it would be foolish for INEOS to dump all the goalscoring burden on Benjamin Sesko’s shoulders.

An anxious end to the window awaits United fans. Hopefully, INEOS have a few surprises in store before the window slams shut.
