In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Manchester United have been offered a chance to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils and Tottenham Hotspur have been approached by the French striker’s representatives over a potential move this summer.

Mateta’s Impressive Form In English Football

Mateta enjoyed a decent run of form at the London club in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 29-year-old registered 16 goals and picked up three assists in 50 matches for Crystal Palace last season in all competitions.

The French talent is currently among the most experienced centre-forwards in the Premier League. Hence, Man United would do well to snap him up in this transfer window.

His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of next season, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to land him this month.

Standing at 1.92m, the French sensation can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 duels for his side in the air. Mateta has proven himself to be a reliable finisher in the Premier League. Hence, he won’t take much time to settle into life at Old Trafford.

We can expect Mateta to bring more firepower to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s frontline. He is capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.
